The Fellowship of the Unashamed
Today, I ended off my sermon with this piece. I heard it quoted from Tullian Tchividjian when he visited the Village Church (check out their podcast). By Dr. Bob Moorehead.
What a prayer this is – by God’s grace.
I am a part of the fellowship of the Unashamed. I have the Holy Spirit Power. The die has been cast. I have stepped over the line. The decision has been made. I am a disciple of...

The Sand is Greener on the Other Side
We booked our trip to the Big Island along with fourteen other of our extended family not knowing what to expect. Besides the trip being very fun overall, one of the big surprises was how familiar Hawai’i felt. Loretta and I honeymooned here almost seven years ago now. It was interesting kind of full circle, to say the least.
One of the things we missed the first time was around was...

Baby Germs Aren't Just for Babies
Loretta and I are in a season of joy and merriment as well as sickness. Case in point: we spent this past weekend at Tremblant (on an icy mountain, but) with great company while Judah spent this past weekend with fluid oozing out of his face. Yes, I made the wrong assumption that, because I’m an adult, whatever he had (baby virus/gems/bacteria) wouldn’t affect me (adult immune system)....
The Theology of Photography I
The title suggests something much more thought out than what I actually have to say. My apologies, but I couldn’t help but think of it since we are on vacation and because I own pretty heavy, pretty expensive photography stuff. I’m constantly debating whether or not I should be bringing my camera with me. Travelling with an infant only makes the decision harder!
I remember clearly in my...

Moving Out, Moving On
This week Judah moved out of our room and into his…
- I heard Loretta crying her eyes out that evening, but she *claims she was just kidding
- Strangely, I feel more like a parent. Like, there’s someone else living here and if I want to see him I need to walk over to his room. It’s strange but kind of cool.
- All of the sudden our room feels gi-normous, so much bigger than we...

A Walk in the Park
Sometimes I pretend I’m a photographer. The Tu family, the 5 Tu’s that is, let me pretend with them. Always fun to hang out with them and this time was no different!

And...we're...back...
It’s taken us (i.e. Judah) a while to adjust back to Eastern Standard Time, to NOT sleeping in between Mommy and Daddy every night, and to acclimatizing to the cold, cold winter.
Yes, two weeks in Vancouver made me a wimp again. It’s 10 degrees over there in Jan, can you blame me?
There’s lots to post so stay tuned!

Nicholas Evans, an Australian linguist comments in the article, “’[The Ethnologue, a catalogue of languages in the world] is clearly biased by its missionary agenda,’…citing its information about Bible translations as an example. ‘On the other hand, they are the only people who have put the resources into assembling a worldwide database, and that counts for a lot in...

ONYX - first cut
This is a rather long post. Feel free to skip to the video but there are a couple of aspects I want to talk about: story, song and gear.
The Story…
First of all, this night, “ONYX” held on Sunday November 21st was a complete labour of love. It was an honour for Gable and I to (try to) capture it. The story has to start with our long time friend Ming, a.k.a. Justin, a.k.a....

Tomorrow, on Nov. 14th we are dedicating our son Judah during the worship service at Cornerstone Community Church. I think by dedication there are a couple of implications. First, we are dedicating him to the Lord, as Hannah did with Samuel. She gave him to the Lord “all the days of her life” (1 Sam. 1:11). She also said, “no razor will ever be used on his head,” but I don’t think we’re going...

Remembering
Remembrance Day has become more important to me in the recent years – and not just because its a day off in B.C. where we were living for four years. War and peace, life and death seem so much more immanent to me now.
Today we participated in another kind of ‘remembrance day’, the Wycliffe Day of Prayer. For decades November 11th has been set aside for prayer to remember God’s faithfulness to...
